Vampires are hard to kill! I guess this one is lucky the peasants didn’t behead her. They only pinned her down without destroying her. But she’s back…now what!?
I published it in my self-published collection Wilderness. But it was long ago and far away and the book never sold well. I forgot about those stories until I came here and thought “why not trot them out and let them be read”. Figured that would buy me time while I work on the novella and keep the weekly stories rolling. And if people liked them, I wouldn’t feel so bad about them. I’m glad you liked it!
🫣 God that was grim and unsettling. The vampire had seduced him before he'd even realised what was happening. Marvellous storytelling as always, Liz. It was the part where he was like "don't worry she's very dead," I thought noooo. 😅
I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Hanna! Yes, vampires should be grim IMO. They mean us no good! Poor old Roger, he was just clueless, and Daciana was determination itself!
Thank you so much for your comment, EJ! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Roger wasn’t the nicest character, but I did feel bad for him. He got into a really bad situation.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Jim! I find that vampires, werewolves, and ghosts (my personal favorite trifecta) are really hard to write. Everything ends up sounding so…done to death, if you’ll permit the pun. I don’t know that I’ve succeeded at any of them, but I take a run at them now and then anyway, lol.
I've never read a reanimation story of a vampire before! Excellent!

Powerful. Perfect. How the hell did this fail to make it to print, Liz?? Saved to read again and again. You turned me into Roger!

Gritty and creepy! An excellent story.
You're such a fantastic storyteller, Liz!
Aww, thanks Sean! That really means a lot!
Thank you so much for your comment, Elliot! It makes me very happy that you enjoyed it.
This is an amazing story! Everything from the prose to the horrifying plot was fantastic.
